Sailing towards Princess Islands of Marmara Sea
Sailing is the ultimate Istanbul experience on the water. Departing from the Kalamış Marina, we make our way to the Princes Islands’ archipelago in the Marmara Sea. Before we set off from the Kalamış Marina on the Asian side of Istanbul, the professional skipper will brief you on the basics of sailing and the sea. Typical sailing activity boats have 8 to 10 people capacity.
You don’t have to be a professional or an expert to sail on the boats! After a quick briefing on the fundamentals of sailing you’re quite welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of Istanbul from water. However, if you’re a keen sailor or active person then you’re welcome to take part, and sail under the leadership of a local expert.
Rowing along the Golden Horn
We start our day- early in the morning- at the rowing club located by the shores of Golden Horn. If you are new to rowing you get a thirty minutes basic training from expert teachers before you start to row. On one side of the 8 km long Golden Horn you have the historical peninsula of Istanbul with city walls, historical mosques, churches, old buildings and great panoramic view, and on the other side you have the beautiful Galata Tower raising to the sky. The activity takes about 2 hours.
Treking along the Lycian Way
Lycian Way is considered one of the most beautiful long-distance treks in the world and it covers more than 400 km between Fethiye and Antalya on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. This trek is a rather unique combination of Mediterranean landscapes along the turquoise coast, fairly mountainous passages, paradisiac beaches and above all ancient Lycian ruins that date back more than 2000 years. The lycian way can be done entirely without tents and by staying in village pensions on the way. April-May and September-October are considered to be the best times of the year to approach this path. The whole trail takes 8 days, however shorter sections like a 3 days itinerary from Fethiye to Kabak can be done too.
White Water Rafting
White water rafting combines excitement, enjoyment and action for a whole day. You will be picked you up from your hotel around 8:30am in the morning and drive 90km to the meeting point of the excursion where you will meet your instructors. If you are a first time rafter you can opt for the easier route as there are two levels of difficulty that you can follow. The adventure begins at Köprülü Kanyon. You will be amazed by the cold water that flows wildly into the Köprüçay River, surrounded by the extraordinary wild beauty of Taurus Mountains. In total, participants have the opportunity to raft 3 different routes in this 14Km long river, with rapid up to grade 3. Each raft has a capacity from 8 to 10 people, however kayaks of 2 can be used to according to your experience level.
Ice Fishing on Frozen Lake Çıldır
Located in the Eastern Anatolia 60 km distant from the city of Ardahan and at 1959 meters above sea level, Lake Çıldır is almost totally covered by ice in the winter months. The famed Yellow Carp of Lake Çıldır attracts fishing enthusiast from all over the world as they want to experience the thrill of the Eskimo style fishing on the frozen lake. You will be accompanied by local fishermen to the correct spot on the ice where to open a hole. Then you will lower the fishing net into the freezing cold freshwater of the lake. The fish you caught will be cooked at a local restaurant and you will just love eating the fatty and delicious freshwater fish you yourself did catch.
Climbing Mount Ararat
The place where Noah’s Arc landed, Mount Ararat, with 5137 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in Turkey. Trekking on Mount Ararat doesn’t require any technical skills. Only at 4900 meters we wear crampons for last 1 – 1,5 hour. Mostly the path is quite fine to walk and it is not rocky. Mount Ararat is not very difficult peak to climb but it is over 5000 m high, so the big challenge is altitude. But with an additional day for acclimatization our expert guides will increase your chance of success in reaching the summit. From the moment of your arrival to the airports of Ağrı or Van until you finish the decend and transfer back to the airport for the departure the Mount Ararat climbing tour takes 7 days.
